Shakespeare’s most magical, fast paced, hilarious comedy; “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” will be performed in Oddsocks’ inimitable irreverent and knockabout style with live music, comedy action and even some outrageous hunting dogs!

Four lovers run off to the Athenian forest where mysterious woodland creatures play tricks on them with hilarious results and when a troupe of amateur actors decide to rehearse in a glade, the fairies intervention leads to bizarre and outrageous comedy.

About Oddsocks

Oddsocks Productions takes classic texts and creates bold, challenging innovative and interactive theatre to be enjoyed by all. They tell good stories, in exciting ways and have been touring nationally and internationally for 30 years performing at theatres and in the open air.

Set up by husband and wife, Andy Barrow and Elli Mackenzie, Oddsocks Productions is a critically acclaimed family run company, which specializes in taking its work out to diverse communities across the UK and Channel Islands.

Touring to both indoor and outdoor venues, Oddsocks have become established as one of the UK’s best-loved touring theatre companies with supporters in their thousands. Over the last thirty years, they’ve toured to countries as far afield as The Middle East with their iconic style of comedy.

The ever inventive and adaptable company is bringing their unique production of “The Comedy of Errors” (postponed amid the first lockdown of 2020) to venues across the UK in the summer of 2021 from June. During the first lockdown of 2020 Oddsocks performed its comedy Shakespeare adaptations live from the family home to international audiences of over three thousand viewers and followed it up, in between lockdowns, with a live tour of A Christmas Carol supported by an Arts Council England Cultural Recovery Fund.

Elli Mackenzie, Oddsocks co-founder and Producer describes the company’s unique style of performance “We create theatrical experiences that are for everyone. We’ve created over seventy productions and performed to over three hundred and eighty thousand audience members in all weathers! No hierarchy or elitism, telling good stories in innovative ways to create a great night out.”

Aside from being a touring theatre company, Oddsocks provides actors for prestigious heritage sites throughout the year and produce corporate training videos, lead team-building days and help businesses to understand the importance of internal communication in the workplace.

How to find Bowring Park

What if it rains?

Most performances go ahead rain or shine! But please note the following:-

If it’s raining at the start time, we’ll forge ahead in the hope that the rain will clear up soon. It will have to be raining very hard indeed (with thunder!) for the start to be delayed.

If conditions become genuinely unsafe, for example if the performance space is flooded or there is a lightning storm, we will stop the show.

Light to heavy-ish rain won’t put us off, but if rain is torrential (and the audience can’t hear the performance) we will stop the show until the rain clears sufficiently for us to continue.

If we can’t go ahead due to the weather, we will transfer your tickets to another performance or refund your ticket money. If we get through most of the performance and then have to stop because of heavy rain, we’ll transfer your tickets to a different performance.
